Call for English to Spanish and Spanish to English Interpreters
Dear SOA activists and interpreters,
Greetings! We hope this message finds you all well. Once again the movement to close the School of the Americas/WHINSEC is organizing to converge on Ft. Benning November 21-23. In our attempt to build the most inclusive experience possible for all participants, the role of English to Spanish and Spanish to English interpretation will be vital. As in past years, we need both simultaneous and consecutive interpreters for the main stage, workshops, and accompanier/liaisons for non-English speaking Latin Americans.
We wanted to gauge from folks if you are planning on attending this year’s vigil and are interested in contributing your time and energy to meeting our interpretation goals.
As we are trying to get an early sense of how many interpreters we will need and how to match them with demand, we appreciate your prompt response.
If interested, please email Leo Gorman at lgorman1@hotmail.com and include the following information:
- Name, Contact Info
- Dates available (ie. Days and times)
- Level of interpretation/past interpretation experience
- In what capacity have you interpreted at past SOA vigils (or other events) and in which contexts would you feel the most comfortable interpreting for this upcoming vigil?
Thanks so much and hope to see you in November!
Be well,
Leo Gorman and Marcos Rubenstein - Please e-mail lgorman1@hotmail.com
