|SOAW and Allies Pressure World Bank on Honduras Loan|

On March 19th, 2013 seventeen non-governmental organizations sent an open letter and petition signed by over 63,000 people to the World Bank, demanding and end to support for the Hunduran corporation Grupo Dinant. Dinant's private security forces have terrorized campesinos in the Bajo Aguán region where resistance to Dinant's expansion is fierce. Of the 102 murders between January 2010 and March 2013 linked to the campesino movement, 40 were at the hands of Dinant security forces.
A few months later on June 28th, 2013 SOA Watch and allies held a protest in front of the World Bank's Washington, DC headquarters. We staged a street theater die-in, reading off the names of Hondurans murdered by Dinant's private security guards. See all the photos from the action here.
